About the artist:

James Green, represented by Asylum Artist Management, lives and works in Stroud (Gloucestershire). His work is widely exhibited and sells internationally.

Green paints from quick sketches he has made of people who pass him on the street; he says: “I don’t actually want my portraits to look like the “sitter”. It’s about painting anyone in everyone and visa versa. Creating the everyday person through every portrait”. He adds that he’s only happy with his work when he believes that the finished piece cannot be replicated by himself or another artist.

He studied Fine Art at Cardiff School of Art from 2007 to 2010 and cites the three artists that influence him most as Basquiat, Picasso and Bacon.
